I have been stitching since I was eight, I started with small simple kits and gradually taught myself other techniques and skills. Having trained as a primary schoolteacher, I taught for 10 years, but due to illness, left teaching and went to complete my Certificate from the Royal School of Needlework. I worked for Heritage Stitchcraft and ran Zweigart’s UK distribution for 3 years. Since then I have built up my business as a textile designer and tutor .
I am a complete thread junkie, I love all threads, wools, silks, everything. The colours and texture pull me in. As a result, I don’t like to constrain myself to using one style or technique, I like to use what inspires me, and what I want to do at that time. I love nature, and a lot of my inspiration comes from walking my dogs and watching the world around me. My other love is history, and this also influences my work.
I offer workshops focusing on traditional textiles, Iron Age spinning, weaving, and dyes, Embroidery, and felt making.
